Bedford & County AC established the Ampthill Trophy Meeting in November 1974 and it was an instant hit.

Interest rocketed with entries peaking at 2000+ and in 1989 sponsorship saw the meeting retitled the "Beefeater Ampthill Trophy"; the event also doubled as the British Veteran Championships in 1989 and '90.  The 25th Beefeater Ampthill Trophy was held on 1 November 1998, and sadly it was to be the last for some years.

Many talented athletes, some of them household names, have graced Ampthill Park over the years and Ampthill & Flitwick Flyers is working hard to record their achievements. The Flyers have uncovered results for 22 of 25 years and these will be added to the website, starting with prize winners.  Race day memories, reports and photos will also feature.
